Bextra has recently been found to increase the risk of heart attack and strokes in its users and was pulled from the market due to those risks and pressure from the FDA. Bextra has also been linked to the fatal skin disease Stevens Johnson Syndrome. Symptoms of this fatal disease include:
skin rash
hives
itching
blistering
fever
cough
difficulty breathing
malaise
swelling
lesions of gums, tongue, or lips
sores in the urinary tract
Bextra users suffering from any of the above symptoms should stop taking Bextra and immediately contact a physician.
Bextra is also linked to several other dangerous side effects:
abdominal pain, tenderness, or discomfort
bloody, black, or tarry stools
nausea or heartburn
bloody vomit
unexplained weight gain
swelling or water retention
unusual fatigue or lethargy
yellowing of the skin or eyes
"flu-like" symptoms; or
unusual bruising or bleeding
Bextra may cause stomach ulcers that bleed. The chance of this serious problem increases the longer you take Bextra, but it can also happen suddenly
Bextra may cause serious liver damage
Do not use Bextra if you have asthma and are allergic to aspirin
Notify your doctor immediately if any of these symptoms develop.
